Minister Yesom Wike Affirms Commitment to Peace in Rivers State, Seeks Divine Intervention for President Bola Tinubu

In a significant development aimed at fostering peace and stability in Rivers State, Minister Yesom Wike, who serves as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has declared that his political party in the state has successfully fulfilled its part of a peace agreement initiated by President Bola Tinubu. The announcement comes after a meeting with His Royal Highness Eze Nnam Obi III, the Oba of Ogbaland, in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State.

During the meeting with the Oba of Ogbaland, Minister Wike reiterated his commitment to peace in Rivers State, assuring the king that his party had completed its responsibilities under the peace agreement. He stated, “We accepted whatever decision the President made, and we have independently met all of his requirements because I promised not to let you down.”

Minister Wike, in a demonstration of goodwill and statesmanship, urged the king and his council to pray for President Bola Tinubu, seeking divine intervention for the leader’s discernment in guiding the nation. “And I would like you to take this chance to pray for Mr. President, asking God to continue to give him discernment in leading our country’s affairs,” Wike emphasized.

Highlighting the interconnectedness of state and national peace, the former Rivers State governor declared, “If there is peace in the states, it will help peace in Nigeria.” He implored the Oba of Ogbaland and his council to continue praying for President Tinubu, emphasizing the vital role that peaceful states play in the overall stability of the nation.

Minister Wike was accompanied by a distinguished delegation that included Chief Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Mr. Heineken Lokpobiri, Felix Obuah, Senators Sam Anyanwu, and Barinada Mpigi, and Chief Victor Giadom. The presence of these influential figures underlines the significance of the peace initiatives and the broad support for maintaining stability in Rivers State.
